The Unpopular Opinion, On Black Opinions
I Absolutely have to state that I am in no way ashamed of being a black woman or ashamed of our history or our culture. I’m so pro black that I fear I come off as racist sometimes. (I’m Not).
Okay now, with that being said I have to admit that I get very annoyed when black people use their platforms to attack, shame, and . Not because they aren’t right in what they are saying but because the point is missed once we start pointing fingers instead of sticking to what we are trying to get across.
See how I said “we”. I can admit I’ve done this more times than I can count but most recently it was in my post “The Ways I Teach My Son History”. I reread it and I was so disappointed because I lost the entire point I was trying to prove by constantly attacking how our history is presented.
I believe its important to remember that the majority of people know what our history entails. They know how we feel walking around as black people. Now before the attacking comments surface, realize, I said “they know” not that they “understand.”
Think of getting into an argument with your spouse, if you start off the argument saying everything they’ve done wrong and then try and prove your point, you’ve already lost them. They are going to feel attacked and automatically be on the defense. Its going to be a whole bunch of excuses and/or reasons as to why they’ve done what they’ve done or ways you’re wrong about it.
